Has anyone tried to convert standard headlights to RS pop up lights. My car is a 67. Do you just buy the pop up lights or is there something else involved?

View Full Version : Converting standard head light to pop up's? LukeSkywalker Oct 25th, 02, 09:42 PM Has anyone tried to convert standard headlights to RS pop up lights. My car is a 67. Do you just buy the pop up lights or is there something else involved? HawaiianCamaro Oct 25th, 02, 11:09 PM A whole lot is involved if your going from standard to RS. the fenders are different and you will need to get the mounting brackets. The front grille and lower valance is different and would need to be changed. the rear tail panel is different and the back up lights need to be moved to below the bumper and the tail light lenes need to be changed to all red. Ricks has the front light system listed as a kit but then you will have to get the grille/lower valance/rear tail panel/front and rear turn signels/new red lenses/ also. the RS light and motor kits are about $900 by them selves. Add another 4-500 for the rest of the stuff and then the cost to have the rear panel installed. You could do the front grille and lower valance yourself. Why not just keep it standard? Sale it and find a RS model already since the RS option is on teh cowl tag and could never be pawned off by anyone as a true RS. ------------------ Jeff 67/68(2) & 69 RS's 65 442 http://hobbystage.net/camaro/hawaiiancamaro/index.html http://www.hawaiianislandcamaros.org LukeSkywalker Oct 27th, 02, 07:24 PM Thanks for the information. They look really cool. Hoping that it would have been an easy thing to do. mebe_epp Oct 28th, 02, 01:57 AM luke I went through this deal , and I think it better to sell and get a RS , I had a nice 67 std and wished everyday it was a RS started to buy the stuff and change it but just thought it would be more money than it would ever be worth so I sold it to get a RS , and I did I now have a 67 RS in my garage and could not be happier , I don't understand why GM did not make the RS option standard equipment on the camaro , to change one over and do it right will take over a $1000 , ------------------ ADVENTURE'S IN RUST REPAIR and professional daily driver quality paint !!!!!!!! |
