Am new to Camaros, am a long time Chevelle owner. Recently purchased a 1970 Camaro, which is a 6 cylinder car with air conditioning. I have a 1972 Monte Carlo parts donor that I'm going to take the 350 out of and put in the Camaro.
What parts will I need to make the conversion? Are the frame stands the same, or will I need them for V8? Will the motor mounts from the Monte work? Can I utilize the A/C compressor and bracketry from the Monte? And finally, will the exhaust manifolds work?
Thanks in advance, sorry for the newbee questions.

You will need SBC engine stands to bolt to the sub-frame; holes are already there. The motor mounts will work as is. The A/C and all accessories will work as is. I would also reuse the condenser and radiator as the six is a two core, and the hoses will at least be an approximation of the correct length if left on the engine. As to the exhaust manifolds my gut feeling is will drop right in, but I do not know for certain. If six banger Camaro didn't have P/S the steering box should bolt up but there will be problems with the pitman arm. You will also need a Camaro specific evaporator and heater core and the A/C box if it didn't have factory A/C.

Okay you should really check out www.nastyz28.com that said, here's my take:

By '72 the engine mounts had changed (rubber encased steel on the car, with steel stands on the engine) for safety reasons. These probably won't bolt directly to your '70 subframe (if you have a drill and a little patience you can install 'em). Stock '70 mounts will be a solid stand on the subframe and a rubber mount on the engine...not nearly as safe but a bolt-on application.

My advice? Buy some '72 Camaro frame mounts (those Monte mounts are probably shot by now! and replacements are CHEAP) drill the holes and set it up.

The 6 cylinder throttle cable is different, you may be able to use the Monte's cable dunno. Probably not a big deal.

Something you may not realize is that the old inline 6 cylinder engine is a heavy dude, that coupled with a/c made the factory use the heaviest springs (read: BBC Chevy springs) on the 6 cylinder cars! Part number is exactly the same. Now after all these years the springs have sagged some, but the front may actually ride a bit higher than the rear with an SBC in there instead! I did this swap on a car and replaced the rear springs at the same time...lets say I had a bit of 4X4 look ;)

This isn't to be confused with V6 springs which are weak, and will sag more!

I'd guess the exhaust manifolds will work, but I'd suggest headers since the existing exhaust wont work anyway!

Good luck!
