Does anyone know if a Muncie shift handle will mate up to a Hurst CompPlus shifter? I saw something on the Chevelle site, but it was for the round Muncie shift handle. I'm wondering if it can be done on a 68 with the flat handle.

I'd like to know also. Just in case I ever find one that doesn't cost as much as the tranny itself. Mike

yep
The Hurst handle mounts with two bolts while the Muncie mounts with a pin arrangement in a carrier so is much longer. Cut the Muncie handle off with your favorite cut-off tool and drill and mount to the Hurst. Might require some fitting as handle appears a bit wider..friend of a friend did it. The Muncie is permanantly neutered after this surgery unless you find a new handle!

I did this swap a few years ago. Instead of screwing up a good Muncie handle I picked up a used one (actually from a 3 speed) and cut it off as per the previous post. Before you make the cut, take the Hurst handle and lay it up against the Muncie handle. This will give you an idea where you will then make your cut. The curve of the Hurst handle and the Muncie were very similar in my case. Once cut drill the 2 mounting holes and you're in business.
