Hello everyone. My car is just a shell at this point. I've removed all of the spring perches and brackets off my 8.5" rear end and am using the DSE clamp on spring perches. The DSE leaf springs are in and the car is suspended by the frame rail on jackstands. I was hoping to mock-up the rear end so I could get the housing out to be powder coated. Is it possible to set the pinion angle with the car in this state? There's no engine, no trans, etc. There's also no weight on the axle. Please advise.

If you could determine exact rear ride height then you could put the rear end in that position and mock it up with an engine/trans bolted into the subframe. But I'm not sure how you'll determine that exactly. I waited until the car was assembled to do mine.

I think the original angle is 3 or 4 degrees. I would start there, then when you get everything back together, car level and suspension fully loaded you can use wedge shims to get it where you want it. be careful welding on the perches..you can warp the tubes.
