I'm using a repop curved neck radiator in my 69 "COPO" recreation..........The black rubber overflow hose hangs down next to battery...........what bracket or support should keep this hose in place????? A picture or reference link would be great

Thanks,

I fabbed one out of a piece of palet banding. Made sort of a "Z" out of it, and it slides over the end of the radiator. I bent a couple of points onto the end to help hold it in place. Then painted it. Sorry, don't have any pics.

In Rick's 2006 catalog it is on page 228, part #OF-40, for $14.95. I just bought one! Not cheap for what it is but does look good. Thanks for the great picture I was not sure exactly the location of where this piece went.I know I'm going to have another similiar question as soon as I take another look at mine. Larry,69Rfine

I dont have picture of this repop radiator.....Probably U.S. Rad brand......but side area does not at match above OEM picture.
At least I now know what was......and hopefully I can improvise a generic clip and paint black. Nobody but I will ever look anyway.........Its not easy being ANAL!!!!!!!!!!!

Chuck, never say nobody else will ever look! I always look at at the small stuff! This way i can determine if the person is as anal as me! and there has been times when I asked the owner what the H is this? I usually get an education! Sort of like when I see a "caution fan" sticker on a camaro fan shroud, I never say anything, I just know that the owner has not researched things to the point I have. I'm sure I have my fair share of incorrect things, but I always am trying to research and educate myself so that my car reflects that I have put the time and effort in making the car correct.Good luck with your car! I guess Ford was more safety conscious than Chevy :)

Or maybe Ford owners needed to be reminded that sticking your hand in the fan would hurt.

Good one on the Fords! Okay, on a serious note, I said I would have more questions on this overflow radiator thing! Like I said i have a Sept.1969 Z/28, it has what I believe is the original radiator, CB stamp, date coded "F"{June} Mine did not have the above clip to hold the overflow hose. However on the right side, the large brace that is attached to the radiator and secures to the radiator support is a hook that is part of the bracket that looks like it's only function would be is to hold overflow hose. Is this possibly a change that took place. It would make since to me, since it still gets the job done without having to make another part and not having to use the labor in putting it on. Any input would be greatly appreciated1 Thanks! Larry.69Rfine

I'm answering this one myself! i spoke to Jerry MacNeish today about the overflow clip built into my bracket attached to the radiator which bolts directly to the radiator support on My CB radiator(Z/28) This is the way they are supposed to be, and never heard of a seperate clip being used for the overflow hose. i take it mine is correct?! The UH I posted above is an untouched original out of a 69 Z. It also has the hook clip you mentioned in the mounting bracket, on the side of the tank.

Maybe some had the clip, some didnt? I certainly respect Jerry's opinion, but it doesnt look to me like the clip was added, especially since the car it was in hadnt seen the light of day in over 20 years.

Where did you find the "F" date code?

Hi Dave, The date letter is near where the CB is on the radiator. If you need exact location I will be seeing the car again on Friday. It's about the same size as the C and B. Last year at the A.C.A. Nationals(Bow-Tie,1,000pt.) The judges tried tellimg me it was a reproduction because they could not see or feel the"Harrison"near the filler neck. I argued that it was since it was dated "F". They got Jerry out of the 5,000pt. building and sure enough Jerry repeated what I had said. After tearing into the car again and stripping yhe radiator, you can feel as well as see the "Harrison" now.Larry,69Rfine
