: Classic Auto Air GP
camsdad Mar 23rd, 06, 07:52 PM Hey folks,
Spring is here and summer is not far behind. Soon it will be a hot mother again.
Wouldn’t it be nice to drive your classic muscle car around in comfort this summer?
I’m ready to pluck down some $ for a Classic Auto Air Perfect fit AC system for my 69 RS.
Been pondering this issue for about a year now. Like everyone else, I'm trying to get the best deal.
If you are interested, head on over to the GP superstore and chime in.

hhott71 Mar 24th, 06, 07:04 AM The Perfect fit system is $1095 for a complete system at www.bought4less.com
Sid69Z's Mar 25th, 06, 08:44 AM I'm in.....hopefully it will work out!
ProdigyCustoms Mar 25th, 06, 05:24 PM Well, this is how it works, looks like 3 buyers so far. if we get somemore, well get it done. The wanted GP section is great. It works.
Richz68 Mar 26th, 06, 10:10 AM No need to wait for a GP guys..... Call me and let me know you are a TC member and I'll work out the best deal I can!
It's that easy!
Sid69Z's Mar 30th, 06, 10:14 AM I got a price for the Classic Auto Air system #20-249 ('69 Camaro) from RICHZ68 http://www.streetrodstuff.com/ for $960.00 + shipping. You must tell him that you are a Team Camaro member to get this price.
Keep this price in mind while looking around....it's the lowest I've seen yet!
thedugan Mar 30th, 06, 10:57 AM Tempting, very tempting
camsdad Mar 30th, 06, 04:11 PM Alrightie now.
Maby on top of the Team Camaro Membership discount, I wonder if he would also do an additional free shipping with a TC GP of 5+ units?
How about it Richz68?

hhott71 Mar 31st, 06, 06:35 AM You want a business to clear $84 on a $1,000 sale and then give away $60 in shipping. $24 profit to pay wages, rent, insurance, utilities, taxes, advertising, etc and have something left over to take the kids out for an ice cream.
Its not worth any businesses' time.

1st of all, you can't blame a person for trying to get the best deal possible.
Thats why I'm trying to get a group purchase going. So I'm not just thinking about myself, I'm also thinking of my fellow Team Camaro Brothers & Sisters who would like this A/C unit at a good price.
2nd, by your numbers, you lead me to believe that the business you reference to is operating on a 10% profit margin? Thats a brake even # in my business. With that comment, I understand your reply loud and clear.
However I find it hard to believe those #'s unless the product goes through several hands before it reaches the end user.
And $60.00 shipping????????

DjD Mar 31st, 06, 09:20 AM Kurt - we have a place for GP's and it's not in the forums... This thread will come up in every search for Air Conditioning and won't be of and use to someone looking for help with their AC.
Typically when forming a GP the details are worked out between the vendor and the person taking charge of the GP (Kurt in this case) then it's presented to everyone...
Here's a direct link to the GP area... http://www.camaros.net/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=3
Brian Lewis Mar 31st, 06, 09:21 AM I know my Vintage Air system came in 3 boxes, Compressor came separately as well as the compressor mounting bracket. I could easily see where $60 could be used for all the packaging and shipping costs on such a setup.
I paid $55 shipping for my Vintage Air AC system, 3 boxes, 82 lbs total, this was on a GROUP BUY that Nathan Crowe - Crowe's Small Engine & Auto Parts
setup. Came to $950 after shipping though so it was a better deal and clearly Vintage Air is the leader in aftermarket AC products. I've never installed a Classic Air setup so I can only speak of my experience with the Vintage Air and I can tell you it fits pretty good and their tech support is top notch. You might email Nathan Crowe (either on this board or team Chevelle) to see if he can setup another GP, not sure if he can secure the same deal, this was 2 years ago! Costs have gone up on everything since then.
Bullit68 Mar 31st, 06, 11:22 AM Hey StreetRod Stuff
Do you have something I can buy that will replace the underdash heater/ac box?
I have most of the rest of the items needed, but my underdash box assmbly was duct taped toegther. It's the fiberglass kind.
