I'm in the process of painting my 69 Z and I was wondering if anybody has painted their car black with bc/cc? A friend of mine who does some painting says it looks foggy when done. And to just was a single stage paint system like Imron! The color of the car was just black with silver stripes. The original color is supposed to be Lemans Blue. I was thinking of HarleyDavidson Impact Blue which is real close. Now I saw a chevy s-10 pickup brand new that was black!! It looked awesome!!! I need help!!!!! Will the black look foggy?? Or as good as factory ?? Another reason for black is that there are NO black Z's around here, but there are blue ones. So waht about base coat clear coat in Black???? Help!!

hey bc/cc black is fine, no problems at al other than maybe the loose nut behind the spray gun, after wet sanding and buffing, will look better than a factory job, i am not sure why he told you that it would look foggy, he might be a die hard single stage guy and not give bc/cc a shot, but there are no issues at all with black and i have done a 4-5 overalls and dozens of black bc/cc colisions and have had no problems, anyway goodluck and have fun

I've never had a problem with clear over black either as long as it's designed to be used that way (no lacquer material).

Single stage paint is fine for a complete paint job, but since you are putting the Z stripes back on you might as well base coat the black. Base coat your Z stripes too and then just clear it.
