: Heater blower capacitor{filter}
69Rfine Mar 25th, 06, 04:11 PM Oh great camaro gerus out there! If you are not sick of anwering my questions, I'm not yet sick of asking! With the car not in front of me and trying to go off memory(if I still have any left), there is a orange wire coming off wire harness at the top of the firewall, going through a clip on top of the heater box and then leading to the blower motor. Is there a a noise capacitor some where? I believe i saw in the assembly manual a diagram with such and I also see one available in a catalog. don't know if it matters but I have a sept. 1969 Z. thanks for all of your help everyone! Thanks! Larry,69Rfine
smith69z Mar 25th, 06, 04:26 PM You need tha capacitor if you have a FM/AM. Am only doesn't need one.
bertfam Mar 25th, 06, 04:28 PM Larry,
Only if you have a radio. Check out U63 for the locations and type of caps...
Edit: By the way, both AM and AM/FM radios received the noise suppression capacitors from the factory.

Ed, I'm not real sure about that. My original '69Z (U63 AM radio) doesn't have the heater blower capacitor, and the A.I.M. sheet (U63/69, Sheet A5) that shows the heater blower capacitors is titled "Radio - Capacitors - U69", which is the AM-FM radio.
:beers:
bertfam Mar 25th, 06, 06:49 PM John,
Oops. I thought it was for both. I just looked at the 68 AIM and noticed the same thing. On the heater blower page it says U63 in big letters and U69 in smaller letters under that. I assumed it meant both, but I didn't notice on the left of the page it says "Radio-Capacitors-U69". I thought the caps were for both. Sorry bout that guys. Especially you Mr. Smith.
Now, what about the other caps? The coil and voltage regulator. The AIM doesn't say "Radio-Capacitors-U69" on that page so again I'm assuming these go on the AM and the AM/FM. Right?

Yup - all radio-equipped cars got the other capacitors, but only AM-FM cars got the one on the heater blower feed circuit.

69Rfine Mar 26th, 06, 03:51 AM thanks everyone!I have only AM! That explains everything!
thanks! Larry69Rfine
Unreal Mar 27th, 06, 07:04 AM Also got the grounding straps between the engine and firewall/frame. There's also supressors on the coil and regulator.
Bullit68 Mar 28th, 06, 01:55 PM Oops, dummy here, what is U63?
Thanks
Michael
bertfam Mar 28th, 06, 02:16 PM Mike,
U63 is/was the option code for the "AM Pushbutton Radio".
