I just lost a auction for a DZ carb My final bid was almost $ 800 and I didn't meet the reserve. Am I a cheapskate or is everyone else fed up also .

DZ Fool, yes maybe frustrating, but original and real parts will always bring a premium price. On the other side of the coin, would you be happy to sell one for that price? Its just the way it works, supply and demand. I do feel for you though, seems to be out of control, Mike.

Within the last 3 weeks I e-bayed two original 68 hemi carbs. First brought $1602.00, the second $1577.00 My starting bid $50.00 and no reserve. Original parts can get ridiciously high. Just glad I wasn't buying them.

Hey DZ Fool. No harm intended. I just thought that the Pacer add might lighten the moment for you. It takes a strong man to put his car before his beer. I'm not that strong. By the way, no reserve on the Pacer, and you can get low monthly payments. Hope you get the carb you are looking for. Mike

My friend has one that I've been trying to get him to sell for a yr now. NO JOKE. I'll call him and see if I can talk some light into him for selling it.
He also has the correct pistons and rods. Only 7 of each as the motor took a dump back in the 70's. The rest was parted out.

DZ....I feel for ya man.
I had all but given up hope looking for a date correct 4053 carb for my 68Z/28. One day, I ran into a man that used to own a speed shop in my home town back in the 60's/ 70's. I told him my story. He tells me, "I've
got 30 or more old Hollys in my storage shed". I gave him the information to look for on the air horn. I didn't expect him to call. A day later he calls and tells me, "I've got your carb". He remember me from the days of his speed shop. Therefore, he only asked $200 for the carb.

DZ I feel ya pain brother. I looked hard to find a 4053 carb with the right date for my 68 L-78. I feel lucky now to have found one for $475. At the time 2 yrs ago I felt like someone ripped me one. If I could find the correct date code 170 distributor, and not have to give up my beer for the next 6 months, Id feel lucky again! :beers: Kevin

You might want to email the seller and see what he wants for it. I did this on a part I was bidding on recently. Same situation as yours, I was the high bidder but the reserve wasn't met. Had to pay a little more than I wanted to but the seller also took less than he was wanting.

Hang in there!! This is supposed to be fun!!!!

Good luck,
Doug

I bought my Z carb from QuickFuel...the owner had one laying around...he replated it, rebuilt it, and sold it to me for $275.00. Probably the best deal I have got on any of my Z parts.

If you call Holley (I assume this is Holley) they will give a guy's number who has a ton of old school carbs. Not cheap but original and hard to find stuff.
