I have a 69 SS with the stack hood louvers that of course over time has cracked and pitted. It seems that most of the after market ones do not fit properly. Is there someone that refinishes these????? What other options do I have?

you really don't need to post the same question more than once...

He's not asking the same question. He's asking if someone refinishes them.

I found one small chrome company in tenn. that does replate pot metal parts. Its slow and relatively expensive. Ive been looking for a set of NOS. Someone on this board was selling 2 louvers but they were for the same side. The rechroming price I got was around $400. Kevin

Thanks for the information. The expensive price of NOS is what I have been running into also. I guess if you are going to spend $400 for rechroming you might as well buy the NOS. Even though the NOS have not been used I wonder how they hild up, I mean they are the same age as the car.

It was me that sold the two that were for the same side. Apparently, that is how GM has sold them for the past 20 years. This type sells for around $400, while a true matching set of left and right sells for more like $600, so be prepared to pay.

I compared the NOS set I had to a repo set...no comparison! The repo set had many casting flaws, imperfections, and just really didn't come anywhere close to the GM set. If these companies go through all the work to make a repo, why can't they get it right?

That is my point exactly. If you find the ones with two of the same side is there any problem with them fitting?

Yeah, there are a few issues...you either have to slightly modify the hood or modify the emblems. If it was me, and my car wasn't painted yet, I wouldn't think twice about a slight hood mod that will be under the emblem anyway.
