I was told by a respectable souce the other day that the center brace was not connected to the subframe as shown in the assembly manual. I'm not exactly sure if this is true and if so how was it fastened? I thank everyone for answering all of my questions! Larry,69Rfine

That's not true, all 69's with D80 had all three front spoiler braces installed at the factory. The plant drilled a .375" hole in the center horn of the subframe and installed a bolt. The AIM shows the bolt installed from the top with a nut and washer on the bottom, not sure if they did that, or used a large sheetmetal type bolt up from the bottom.

Thanks mark, I knew that all 3 braces were used the question I had was how the center was fastened to subframe. i was told the way assembly manual's method was changed. If changed, how was it fastened? thanks! Larry,68Rfine

I think it was changed to the single sheetmetal type bolt up from below. I can't remeber how mine was originally though, but I think it was that way (of course it was 22 years ago when I first pulled my car apart to rebuild it). Mine is a late April of 69 car.
