View Full Version : Pic with new wheels (no snow this time)
ckaram Apr 1st, 06, 03:45 PM Shot with new rubber, rims and Eibach lowering springs. 235/45/17 x 7 on front and 255/45/17 x 8 out back. Even drove it home with the top down! 45 degrees wasn't that bad since I was feeling a little high going through the gears...

speedfreek Apr 1st, 06, 06:37 PM Nice car, what color is that?
ckaram Apr 1st, 06, 06:56 PM Thanks, it's grotto blue. I've seen a number of variations on this color. Check out this site and note the differences in the grotto blue cars.

JV69z/28rs Apr 1st, 06, 08:14 PM Even the guys that hate bigger than 15" wheels have to admit that the "classic" styles look "right" in 17s on these cars. Nice job the car really looks great!
kleptopigdog Apr 1st, 06, 08:15 PM very clean .looks great!
ckaram Apr 2nd, 06, 06:05 AM Thanks guys
ew68bb Apr 2nd, 06, 11:05 AM Car looks great! I have in route 4 TT2's using the same tire dimensions, glad to see they don't look too big.
musclecarjohn Apr 3rd, 06, 01:36 PM Makes the car...BIG TIME!
Just wondering why not 8's all the way around. With the right b/s,they'll clear no problem...did someone suggest this combo?
What is your b/s by the way?
I am glad to see someone else run this style of wheel...and not the usual chromed or polished wheels everyone seems to be running.I have these exact same wheels (18") on my Chevelle and I just ordered 17x8 American Racing 200S for my '69 Camaro and 17x8/17x9.5 Vintage Wheel Works V40's for my '70 Z...ALL DARK SPOKE/POLISHED RIM wheels...new modern larger wheels with that OLD SCHOOL look.
You should be quite pleased with the look...looks killer!
You couldn't have made a better decision.
ckaram Apr 4th, 06, 12:45 PM Thanks musclecarjohn! With my color scheme, I wanted the grey centers b/c I thought it made the car look a little tougher than just chrome or polished. If my paint was a darker color I would have shopped for the charcoal/black centers I see on 'stangs.
My bs is 4" on front and 4.5" on rear. I knew I wanted to drop the front somewhat, but at the time of purchase wasn't sure how much. I ended up going with the 1" drop Eibach springs. Also, part of the size difference (and wheel choice) was indeed a throwback to old-school stylin'.
Isn't the 200S the "daisy" style? Those wheels have a place in my heart. My first car, a 68 camaro with a 250 6-banger and 3 speed (+ header and glasspacks) had those rims. Love seeing the old stuff in bigger diameter!
musclecarjohn Apr 4th, 06, 02:52 PM Yes,the 200S wheels are the "daisy" or "coke bottle" design as they were called. The set I have on my '69 Z was on my '70 Z when I purchased it in 1979.I'm glad American decided to re-make them in the larger sizes too.
You made a WISE decision going with the gray centers...everyone and their mother has the polished spoke TT's...and I tend to never do whatever everyone else is doing...at least if I can avoid it.
Your car looks killer...congratulations!
ckaram Apr 5th, 06, 05:01 PM Chris,
Have to agree with all here. That car is bad**s!! The 1" drop does appear to make a difference. Just adds a little bit of canyon rider to the look!
Now, for the rest of you guys, I gotta come clean here, he's my son!! Couldn't be prouder of his 'Ro!
Regards,
Jim (6T5RUSH)

iroc5570 Apr 6th, 06, 08:08 PM very nice. thats all i have to say. i am usually never a fan of any rim over 15" on classics. But now that they are making old style wheels in larger styles, definiltely looking classy. that is one sweet ride. and you have all the right to be proud of your sons car, that is awesome.
Motorhead62 Apr 6th, 06, 10:15 PM SWEET!!! I love those wheels!!!
68rs406 Apr 7th, 06, 05:10 PM I'm one of those haters of big wheels, actually big like 20's, and I really I'm tired of all the TT II hype, but that combination looks simply bitchin'! changes my mind about TT's. Love the colors, love the year, and it just looks good, well done
I was wondering what color too, my car is island teal (not right now, but eventually), W/ blue interior, I love the light blue colors and colored interiors (other than black I guess) on our cars.
And oh yeah, why would you want to ruin such a nice car, with wing windows? ;)
ckaram Apr 7th, 06, 07:33 PM Thanks Sean! Me too. Love all the non-black interiors.
