How in the world do you re-connect the adjuster lever spring? I had to replace my wheel cylinder and decided while in their I might as well do a brake job.....no worries, yeah right! Anyway, I go to put everything bacl together and I can't get the damn spring to "stretch" to connect to both sides. Any tricks to get this done?
Thanks

with the shoes off the car and in your lap (you are sitting crosslegged on the garage floor) hook up the spring first. Then stick one end of the adjuster in one of the shoes, and while holding the shoe and adjuster in one hand, rock the other shoe till it will pop on.

Maybe I'm using the wron word. This is the spring that is on the rear shoe that connects to the same "adapter/plate" that the rear spring connects to. The one that goes vertical next to the hold down spring...I think you are referring to the actual spring located right above the self asjuster...got that one without any problems, but this other one is a real PITA.

Do you do it on the drum or in your lap?
It's killing me.

ahhh that one... that one's a beetch.
They make a tool which I've never owned or used.
I use a BIG phillips screwdriver. slide the spring on it, put the pin the spring fits on in one of the V's of the screwqdriver tip, and pull. Keep your fingers out of the way, usually takes 3 or 4 try's and it's pretty violent when you miss.

That was the ticket  I had been using a flathead and plyers...second try with the phillips and went on like a champ. Only wasted an hour so today on that ;)
