Guys, I am looking at a 67 Camaro with a built 350, but the quarter panels and rear window area are rusted out. I imagine there is more rust areas that will be uncovered tomorrow. Anyway, the guy wants $6000 for it and I am thinking very seriously.

My question: How much can I expect to invest for restoration of the metal and a decent paint job? I am going to drive this and am not looking for a showroom car. Not trying to be cheap, just a working man looking for a fun car (and I have to stay married).

The definition of "decent" varies quite a bit from one person to the next, but for "decent" paint and body, with multiple panel replacements and rust issues in the rear window, I'd say start around 10K as an estimate and go up, especially in California. The same job might cost half as much somewhere else in the US, prices vary quite a bit depending on location..........KZ

I have a 69 and it needs similar work done to it. I have received estimates that range from 15-25k and they depend on what is found underneath.
You might also need to replace suspension parts etc and this all adds up.
My advice is say your money and buy something that has been done unless you are very handy and can do it yourself. It is very hard to explain to a wife that you need to drop another 10k into your car so you can have something to joyride in.
