I'am new to the web site an glad I found you guys.
I just purchased a 69-z and having some carb problems.
I know fuel injection not carbs.My problem is (intermediatly)the car hesistates bad when you gradualy lean on the throttle.If you pump it to get the accel. pump going it runs better (as if the car is lean).
I found that the electric choke is stuck open(with a zip tie)and no power to the choke, I don't know if the choke has anything to do with it.
Should I get it rebuilt or buy a new Edelbrock to match the VictorJR intake
or keep the Holley.I have a 350,Double Hump heads mild street cam,
automatic 3spd,3.08 gears. Any suggestions would be appreciated

If you just bought the car, I'd start with a very thurough tune-up. Plugs, points (if it has them) check the mechanical advance, verify the timing both at idle and reved up, also change all the fluids and filters.

If it's still a problem, rebuild the carb.

Oh, you might just write down the #'s on that carb and post em in tag team. With a 350 and automatic in a "Z/28", I doubt it, but if that is a real Z/28 Holley, it's worth a fortune.

Well, he said electric choke, so it's probably not an original carb, though certainly an electric choke may have been fitted.

My very first thing would be to replace the fuel filter. Also, check the entire fuel line very carefully. There are rubber pieces at front and rear which crack over time and allow air to get sucked in, instead of fuel. This causes intermittent bogging.

If fuel filter and line are good, then do as Jim says. Tune-up followed by carb overhaul. Sounds like you got trouble in accelerator pump area or maybe blown power valve, both are easy fixes..............................
