Would like to remove the paint from my original plastic grill on my 69. I've tried laquer thinner, zip strip, citrus strip, easy off, etc., etc. The citrus strip works but is slow. some of the products actually melt the plastic. Is there a better way? Media blast?

Read in another post that Easy Off Oven Cleaner does the job safely. Spray it on, stuff it in a garbage bag for 24 hours, then hose off the old paint. I haven't tried it. Just read about it.

The shop that is dipping my car told me that he can dip plastic parts to remove paint without damaging the plastic!

I've tried easy off but not in a bag for 24 hours. I'll give it a try and report back. Thanks

Easy-off is the way to go. I just did my console and it came out great. Like dyno said, in a bag for 24 hours with the stuff sprayed on. I got the no fume type because the fumes on the regular stuff are murder. After 24 hours, put on some rubber gloves and use a scotch bright pad - one that's not too corse- to go over it. Wash it off good and you should be all set. I've heard from the scale modeling guys you'll want to let it sit for about a week before you paint it to make sure all the Easy-off has dissapated.

Well, the easy off in the bag worked very well. I would never have thought to bag it and let it sit that long. It still took some elbow grease but not bad. Thanks for the tip. I'm pretty excited tonight, I just came from the body shop. My 69 is in the booth and they're going to spray it red tomorrow. Can't wait to see it!
