Hey guys, I've read a lot on the site about 69's leaning one way or the other. My car leans to the drivers side over and inch and sits high on the front passenger about 3/4. I've read that the sub frame could be twisted or I have a weak spring in the rear. I have jacked up the front exactly under the center of the cross member, lifting the wheels and the drivers rear still sags. Would this point to the rear spring as the problem? Thanks

Look for a bent or broken leaf spring. Maybe a bent Shackle bolt on the rear. Also check all the bushings as well.

I never did figure my leaning 67 out,and I tried a little bit of everything and to tell the truth I think it was..a little bit of everything! I think the left front was weak from years of my brother then me predominately driving the car.I think that allowed the right rear spring to do what it was suppose to do and thats hold the car up only with the left front down it was pushing up more etc etc etc. All of that went away when I finally did a complete spring replacement on all 4 corners, tell ya tho ,with the left front down it sat like a saturday night short track latemodel and man, it would take a lefthand corner like a champ...kind of miss that!LOL

The rear springs were replaced a number of years ago by a previous owner and are in decent shape, no obvious problems or damage. They were made buy a no name spring shop, can't recall the name and I painted over the tag. The car had air shocks on it when I bought it because it sits low in the rear, too low in my opinion. The shocks helped bring it up to level with no one in the car.

Is that with the driver in the car? ;)

Is this a monoleaf or multi, sounds monoleaf-ish, if you dont mind me using the term.

Sounds like you need a heavier date to ride along with you :D

The springs are multi leaf. At the moment the car is a rolling shell and the lean is more pronounced, assembled it's less but still noticable.

How important is it to tighten the springs in the mounts with the car on the ground? When I intalled the rear end I tighten them with the rear hanging and the body on jack stands. Will this approach cause the car to lean? Thanks for the help

They all do that, mine is about 3/4" different left to right. I've had 2 sets of front springs and one new set of rear springs and the lean is still there.
