i've had my car on the road for a month and i need some help getting rid of some little things that just bug the tar out of me. first of all i finally tried to open it up a little ant when i got to 70-80 mph i saw a flash of chrome moldings fly off of mu front windshield and all over the road. i have brand new clips but is there something i can do to keep this from happening. second i have numerous rattles when i hit large bumps. it seems to come from the glass vibrating in the doors and some from the trunk. is this pretty common? last when i give a hard corner my engine seems to try and stall or i loose power. i want a "solid" driver so if anyone can give me some advice on any of these problems i would be most greatful. its kinda embarassing to go down the road in a nice g-machine and having rattles and sqeaks coming out of your ride.
thanks,

The wanting to stall and loss of power in turns is most likely your floats need to be set. I had this problem before and adjusting my floats fixed it..

Losing the window trim can happen when you do not have original style retaining clips or don't have the trim seated properly. Check the installed clips against some of the repro catalog pics- I'll bet they are different!

choptop,
the clips are the original style clips. i looked at the clips yesterday and can't quite figure out how they hold on to the moldings. is there any site with pics of how the molding attache to the clip? i'm going to replace all the moldings since some are dinged up and scratched. hopefully with the new moldings i can get them to stay.
thanks,

Here is a picture of the correct factory style coupe windshield trim clip (top) and incorrect aftermarket replacement (bottom). http://www.BartonekDragRacing.com/webfilez/coupe%20front%20glass%20clip.jpg

If your clips are identical to the factory style clip then your trim may not have been seated correctly (popped into place) or you may have too few clips installed. I think there are five across the top and three or four on either side, plus the lower molding clips which are completely different looking.

thanks choptop,
graemlins/thumbsup.gif the clips i have are the original not the reproduction. it must not be seated properly. i'll have to figure out why it won't stay.

Please don't think I mean anything by this, but since the molding has a lip on it that catches on a notch on the clip is there any chance you installed them with the wrong side out? Also if they are original clps and were used any chance that you sprung them when they were removed and now they do not have adequate pressure against the lip of the molding?

I'll bet the window is setting up too high. That is the most common reason for the mouldings not clipping on. They are pretty fool proof other than the window being up too high away from the pinch weld.

The rattles in the doors sure shouldn't be there. What they are, I have no idea. You just need to pull off the door panel and start looking.

hey guys,
all these are good points. i'm going to reorder the moldings and clips and i'm going to take it back to the body shop. they might be backwards i dont really know. i did flip a couple of clips and had to do a little bending and they really hold on now but it doesn't seem right. i get a good grip from the outer side of the molding but the inner part of seems a bit loose. i just don't know  but it WILL get figured out.
zack68.

ps the rattles in the doors are a combination of the glass and the door latches but i tightened some up so hopefully they will be less obvious next time i drive it.
