i:clonk: unfortunately broke the original brake line on the weekend putting it back on [69 f-b 400} i know it's original and not just put on by some garage way back because it still has all the factory bends the way they go and the clips too, what should i do, it's the rear one on the left of the car just as it bends for the front leaf mount, i was wondering if it would be ok just to put a fitting on it where it broke instead of ordering a new one from ames

If your car has the proportioning valve under the drivers door area, I'd be tempted to only replace that section.

I don't think I'd try to fix the line. It's old and brittle, and would probably crack when you tired to double flare it.

How'd you break it? Unless you did something extreme, I might just consider it an omen, and bite the bullet and replace ALL the brake lines, soft ones too.

After having a 34-year old (at the time) rear hardline pop going down a hill to a stop sign (I was being watched over that day), I second Jim's advice. The repros from Right Stuff or Fine Lines are pretty close to factory in appearance, and a lot cheaper than bursting something and crashing.

Be it replace with made up one or new one from amies ...
Replace it, dont repare...while at it I would do as suggested replace them all.
Basically summed up by
and a lot cheaper than bursting something and crashing.
And dieing

The front to rear brake line is easy to change out. It's better to be safe than sorry.
