This topic has probably been raised before but would just like some other takes on this. Im sure most of you as I have seen the ebay ads and some on other sites advertising a rolling z28 or ss. These cars are stripped to the bone but retain the vin and cowl tag that denotes X 22, 33, etc etc. I know there are restampings and schistering going on everyday, which drives the market for these cars, six months from now they pop back up as a frame off all numbers matching and go for 45k min. I guess my beef is the fact that a lot of nice clean first gens get stiffed because of the base vin or cowl tag while the average joe salivates or a piece of tin on the firewall. My brother owned a 69 fathom z straight off the showroom floor, i have owned 17 first gens in my life, one was a x55 all original that i spent more time cleaning than driving. My favorite car that i ever had was a factory 6 cyl 69 that had a 69corvette 427 dropped in it. i guess what im saying is that i appreciate all the first gens and understand the value of the all original cars, just cant seem to put my finger on the number craze when the motor, trans , and rear are gone.
