I did a search, and got two hits, both of which were helpful. Here is what I need however. I was cleaning mine off in the parts washer, and had it sitting on a little shelf I made to sit in the parts cleaner to keep parts out of the cleaner. Well, as luck would have it, I lost my grip on the pump, and it slipped into the solvent. It did not go in so far that the top was submerged, but the bottom was, and there is a theaded hole there for the pressure hose that went under. As I was blowing the solvent off the outside, some rather dirty looking fluid came out of the pressure line hole and the return line hole, which I imagine was a mixture of sovlent and fluid. This pump worked great when I took it off, and I don't really want to spend 50.00 on a new one. What are my options here? It was only in the solvent for a second, and I tried to get the stuff off as soon as I could. Am I ok here, or did I just spend another 50.00 on a part that I did not have to.

I had a dirty pump, and I filled it up with new fluid, and made a drive fitting via welding a nut to a bolt & removed the pully, then use a drill to drive the pump and allowed it to self flush. You can also flush the steering box in the same manner just take off the return line from the pump and allow the fulid to drop into a catch can, keep the pump full and it will clean up and clear out. Hope this helps, did for mine.

you can also hook up to a ps or trans.flush machine

After flushing the pump with power steering fluid I wouldn't be too concerned about its function. The only thing that I might be concerned about is the driveshaft seal at the front of the pump. Most likely the very short contact with the cleaner did not hurt it.
