Hey, I was wondering if any of you have come across any really good software where you can document your car , the mods made to the car ( like why is that 2nd fuse box under the dash ) , maybe store some picture and basically create a "living" doc about the car. I know this question is a bit general, but it would be nice to have a structured way to immortalize our cars for our sons/daughters or any potential future owner. I am starting to search for some possibilities and I am hoping someone else has already done this and has a good recommendation. Thanks for any suggestions... Steven

I have been thinking about trying to get some of my stuff organized also. I hate it when you go to the auto parts store looking for an alternator and they start to ask what year/car/engine size. It would be nice to know what replacement parts are not original to your car (Master Cylinder, Calipers, Alternators, Distributors, Steering pumps, Water Pumps). I know when I first got my car when I was 16 I knew nothing about cars and quickly started to learn how items had been changed or updated on my car. My car is a 68 and I never knew my alternator was on the wrong side or that I had a short water pump instead of a long water pump. Some kind of cheat sheet would have been nice.

I'm working on that something similar in a budgeting spread sheet that I've been creating for the past couple months. Unfortunately time is limited and it won't be ready for quite a few more months due to time constraints. Should be able to have a functioning parts list for every tiny piece on your car with it if it works out right.

Spreadsheets are excellent for this sort of thing... Excel is a powerful tool...

Agreed. Hopefully the one I'm working on will be a pretty impressive tool for our community to use.
