I've been searching for a new engine for about a year and half. I've gone from wanting a big inch small block to a big inch big block...carb to efi...blown to n/a...to replace my boring 327.
Through an ad in the paper, I found a guy who had started but stopped working on his project.
Here's what I picked-up:
- GM ZZ454 crate engine - never started - 2 years old
- New complete accessory system - alum pulleys, alternator, ps pump, alum brackets, belts
- NIB MSD Distributor and plug wires
- NIB Holley Street Avenger 770cfm
- New Edelbrock fuel pump
- New mini-starter
- locally "built" 700-r4
- Edelbrock RPM AirGap
All for a few bills less than what a new ZZ454 (intake to pan only) would cost. As my wife would say, "but...it was such a good deal!"
The engine externally looks a little rough because it sat outside or in a barn for 2 years after he stopped working on his project. I pulled plugs, valve covers and the oil pan...all the internals that I could see or touch looked pristine. The exterior could use some TLC and a fresh coat of paint.
Cool.
