Can anyone PLEASE tell me what year caliper is used on a 2 inch drop spindle for a 69 ? I just completed the converstion from 2 inch drop spindles ... to back to stock disc brake spindles and 2 inch drop springs instead. Installed the "single piston" disc brake caliper bracket to the new spindles. Went to attach the calipers that were on the car to the bracket and they were nowhere close to fitting ?? Measured the caliper bolt location on the drop spindles and they came to about 5 1/2 inches apart. The distance apart on the hole on the disc brake caliper bracket is a good 1 1/2 to 2 inches further apart than that. Only thing I can think of is that drop spindles use a different year caliper than a 69.
HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On second thought ........ what are the chances I was given 4 piston brackets instead of single piston brackets ??
Anyone have some dimentions for me so I can measure ?

single piston:http://www.camarosandclassics.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/BR3921.jpg
The 4piston brackets look totally different and will not have the branches/forks out over the discs.
They would look similar to these JL8 brackets:

As far as what year caliper you have for a 2" drop spindle, it still depends on who made the spindle. It sounds like it could be a 3rdgen or s10 type caliper though.
The proper caliper for the front of a 69 takes D52 pads:

Do yours look like them, or maybe do they look like D154 pads?

ohcscott ...
Thank you for the spec's on the pads. Just measured and sure enough they are NOT pads for a 69. This is getting ridiculous. I did not put the 2 inch drop spindle "kit" on this car.... I'm just trying to replace it all. I had to stop last week when I discovered the rotors that were on the car were Gen 2. It's taken me around 3 months of stops and starts on the front end so far because parts didn't match up. :-(
If you were going to make a "kit" for a car, why not use the proper parts for the car in that "kit"? As opposed to borrowing from different years and different cars?
Ok ..... gotta go tell the wife I need to buy some more parts for the car.
Anyone know a good devorse lawyer?
