I've got my car scheduled to be minitbbued in Sep. and was wandering what all would be involved with putting coilovers in. I would probably go with QA1 coilovers, but am not sure on what else I would need. Another question is. Are they worth the money? It's not going to be a corner carver or anything, just a built daily or semi daily driver, with 1 or 2 drags a month.( Not competing, just for fun) My reasoning for them is this. I'm going to have buy new leafs,(went to big block, old ones are WORNOUT) new shocks, new bushings and hard ware, and new offset shackles. Would there be a big price difference between buying everything for the leafs and everything for the coil overs(plus having them installed while tubbing)? Would also like to see some pics if anyone would like to share. Thanks in advance, Jason Hopson

It seems you want to put coilovers on the back, right? If so, and cost is an issue, stick with the new leafs. You will not to put a link style rear suspension to make coilovers work.

He doesn't have to! All he has to do is use the main leaf's to locate the rearend and let the coil-overs support the car...

How does that work correctly? The rear would be super stiff. Is there enough room for a coilover in the stock location? I think the leaf, tire and body will a be in the way of the coil spring.

OK!
I think guy's weld bottom coil-over brackets on the back of the rearend just inboard of the leaf spring perches on each side and then install a top crossmember across to both rear unibody sheetmetal s/f's and attach the tops of the coli-overs to it.
Not all that hard at all to me.. Only problem I see is that I figure that room for an out-the-back exhaust system probably gets tight!!

Thanks for the replys so far. If I do decide to do the coilovers I want them to be done right the first time. It is too much money for me to have to eventually have it redone. If I could just get a parts list of all the things needed I can better evaluate the situation and my options. I really don't know the first thing about coilover conversions. I'm figuring around 500-550$ for the leafs and accessories. So if it would only cost me around 150-200$ more in parts for the coilovers, then I'll go for it. If it is going to cost 1000$(exagerated) more then I probably won't do it. Thanks again. Keep 'em coming. Jason Hopson

I here you pdq, but it just seems to much work for no gain. You do not get any ride height adjustment. One would have to get the lowest spring rate they can because the added rates between the leafs and coils can make the rear end way to stiff. I guess it can be dune, but why.... I guess it is not my car and anyone can build the car they want so that is where I will file this.

No, not at all! The coil-overs are adjustable so will do fine, imho..
Only use the main leaf's to locate the rearend and buy the parts from roundy-round shops OR from The manufacturers that sell coil-over mounting conversions!
Try here!!

This place sell's roundy-round frame metal stampings so may just have what you need!!
And I bought my first, "pdqCBB" front caliper brackets off them and used them as jaw-width templates..
