I just bought a set of 8mm Spiral wires from Accel, they are the kind you cut to fit your own application. This is my first time using these and I finished the job after a long painful process.. This is the deal. I read the instructions and it mentioned " after cutting wire to fit, slide distributor boot on" well the boot doesn't just slide on!! I almost broke my fingers getting the first one to "slide " on. So the next ones after that I used a little WD-40 to lube the boot.. My question is, is this ok? Will the little bit of WD-40 mess with the connection from the distributor to the wire?

The wd40 will be fine. The kits usually come with a lil thin of dielectric grease to use, I often just wet the wire with some spit.

I ran it and it seems like its missing or something, I checked all the wires with a timing light and it seems a couple wires are speratic with the light.. runs good when you rev it up over 1200 rpm or so.. but at idle it sucks. if the wires are touching each other could that be the problem even though they are new?? can they interfere with each other?

It is not highly likely when they are brand new. Are you sure you got the end terminals crimped well enough that they are making a good connection to the carbon impregnated fiberglass center conductor??

That is usually a sign of a low voltage problem with the coil. Do you have points or an Ignitor?
Also, I use Carb cleaner (Gum out) when I put the boots onto the wire. Just spray it on slide the boot on and the cleaner evaporates. Works like a charm!

I use store brand KY for plug boots. It is also good for o-ring installation. I know, it works for other things but I would like to keep my post clean.
