I've got a set of 454 truck heads 14081045 casting that came with a 402 that I bought. Can I make good power with these heads, or do I need to go with something else?

Will run but designed for 454 in a light truck (10-30 series) which has a revlimiter in the HEI distributor set for 4,800 RPM using a 650cfm TBI injector and a small hydraulic roller. Head is very restrictive (same size as a big small block head, with 230cc ports) so you are running the weight penalty of the big block with out the free breathing benifits. Larger Dave pdq67 Apr 10th, 06, 10:18 PM Dave, Is it the L-29 head?? Sounds like it is from your description of it.. pdq67 Larger Dave Apr 11th, 06, 02:48 PM Earlier version of same head. L-29 is the "new and improved" '96 up vortec big block head same small "peanut runners" which Chevy calls round (vs. oval and rectangular). Chevy currently has four different castings numbers out for this style head (not sure what the diferrences are). Looks like the oval is dead (except for the GMPP Signiture Series made by Edelbrock).
