Hello,

Looking for correct location of the coil bracket on a 1969 Crossram set up. Pictures would be great!

My father bought this car new, and bought the crossram and headers from the service department the same day. The car made it in from delivery before the crossram, so the dealer installed the headers they sourced from an area speed shop and he brought it back about three (maybe more??)weeks later for the X-ram install. The dealer added both the headers and the crossram to the purchase price of the car so it could be financed (as written on the window sticker, which either I or my mother still has). When I was a kid, people used to ask him about the peculiar two-four barrel arrangement (it is a lot more popular now than it was then) and he used to say "It came from the dealer that way" which is really a half truth, but probably did nothing to quench the rumors that still fuel the fires that exist today regarding the mystery behind these manifolds. Since the dealer installed it (and summarily voided the warranty), I feel honored to provide the following examples of how the coil is installed. It appears to me to be the stock MO 302 coil bracket, with one ear ground off. Over the years, it has been repainted and has cracked, but remains in the same location it did for nearly 40 years. I have not provided a bunch of detail regarding this car for fear of being flamed by purists, so here now for the first time ever are the digital photos of the 68 camaro's bare essentials. By the way, if you're on 56K, you might want to pack a lunch or grab a Snickers.....

***EDIT*** I took the pics down to save site bandwidth. If anyone wants to see them, let me know and I'll email them to you.

Thanks ZZMike!

It looks like you have an exceptional Z!!!!! I thought I had seen a crossram on a 69 a while ago with an angled coil bracket. Do you think they used different ones between the years? Did the coil bracket come in the over the counter kit or did you have to use your factory bracket?

Thanks again.

It appears to be the factory angled bracket with one ear ground off...

At the time the assembly was installed, I was much more interested in Tonka trucks and Scooby Doo.
