PhatCamaro Apr 12th, 06, 08:39 PM Sorry; its a 1969 with drum brakes if that is of any importance. Just need to know, does the parking brake have the ability to keep the car from moving even if its in neutral. For instance my friend when he parks his car(RICER CIVIC) he puts it in neutral and pulls his e-brake. Camaro Dave Apr 12th, 06, 11:55 PM If your E-Brake is working, it should hold the car in place in any gear. Either your E-Brake needs adjusting or your rear brakes are out of adjustment. Adjust the rear brakes first then adjust the E-Brake. Steptoe Apr 13th, 06, 12:02 AM As with Dave above... While adjusting. take the drums off and check the self adjusters are working. These work when reversing and apply the brakes to stop. Eric Kammerer Apr 13th, 06, 12:08 AM Anticipating Phat's next question, here are two thread to tell you how to adjust the rear brakes. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=70236&highlight=adjust+rear+brakes http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=66318&highlight=adjust+rear+brakes Emergency brake adjustment is then done at the place where the front cable meets the center cable (inner side of driver side subframe rail). Soak the heck out of the threads on the front brake cable, loosen the jam nut, and then tighten the adjustment nut until you get a "good" e-brake pedal in the car. Tighten jam nut, and you're done.
