I have a 69 RS grill that is weathered but in good shape. What is the best way "recondition" the black ara that is the acutal grill? Its dulled to a look similar to gas grill flat black?

depends on how hard you want to work. New GM RS grilles are readily available.

I spent several hours sanding and polishing a weathered center fuel gauge bezel, because the repops were not very accurate. Multiply that by a bunch for a grille.

I used 1500 grit and then used plastic polish. For the ridged part, I used a mix of toothpaste and comet clenser.

I've used metal polish on all the plastic and it turns out great. Even the gauge lenses.
Get yourself a handful of tooth brushes, a bunch of rags, a case of beer and some polish and lock the doors. You'll be at it for a while.
