I have been told by the guy at the alignment shop that I need a new idler arm for my '67. Ricks First Gen. has an idler arm for the '67 that costs $109 and one for '68-'69 for $59. They (Ricks) tell me that the cheaper one will work on a '67, but it will have to be re-aligned. The car is going to get re-aligned at the shop anyway, so that wouldn't be an issue.

Does anyone know for sure if that cheaper arm is going to work?

Thank you!

I can not remember what I paid for mine, but it was a lot less then that...I got it at Advanced auto in 1999 and had no problem. I now have a rack and pinion unit under it.

The 69 idler will work. The 67 is longer but only by 3/8" or so. Some camaros use a long pitman and some have the short pitman, the 69 replacement idlers length is right in-between these two lengths so it's a good choice.

The Moog and TRW part numbers are at the top of the page......

Idler Arm:
K6099 - Federated / MOOG
18718 - TRW

Advance Auto Parts has the TRW idler for $36.46.
If you buy it from Ricks, it'll cost you shipping on top of that $59.

I got mine at Kragen. They sell Moog, TRW, and Mc Quay-Norris suspension parts. I think two of those brands are the same company. The good thing is that the Idler Arm has a Lifetime warranty, if the part fails they will replace it for free.

Well, I bought the 68-69 part from Ricks before I even thought to look for it at a local parts store.

I haven't taken it out of the box yet, so now I'm wondering if I should just go to NAPA or some place like that and buy a guaranteed for life piece and just eat the shipping and return shipping costs on the one from Ricks...

How much was the Idler arm from Rick's? If you consider the part plus the shipping and it adds up to $30.00 or more that you can put back in your pocket, it would be worth it to send it back. If the savings is minimal than I would just use the one from Rick's. You can always replace it next time with one from the local parts store with the Lifetime warranty.
