: Z28 intake i,d.
oregonjoe Apr 13th, 06, 06:50 PM What, if anything code wise , identifies a 68 or 69 Z28 intake manifold, distributor, and heads???
I am phone shopping an engine the guy says has Z28 parts on it!
thanks,
nashcar Apr 13th, 06, 07:01 PM The intake # should be 3932472 with a snowflake design cast near the front left on top. The distributor should be #1111480. The heads should be #3927186. Good luck.
RamAirDave Apr 13th, 06, 07:25 PM Is he claiming its a Z28 engine, or an engine that has Z parts on it?
dave
oregonjoe Apr 13th, 06, 07:39 PM He claims it is a 327, with 11:1 comp and z manifolds, heads, etc. No claim as to it being a 302Z. I gather this is an engine that came out of another hot rodded car(not a Camaro and not original to that car) he owned in the early seventies.
Doesn't a z block have the DZ at the end of the code?
thanks
RamAirDave Apr 13th, 06, 08:03 PM 69 would be DZ. 67 could be MO, MP, or MI. 68 was MO.
dave
oregonjoe Apr 13th, 06, 08:08 PM Is the MO exclusive to the z engine or a group of sb's, i.e 327, 350 etc.?
RamAirDave Apr 13th, 06, 09:35 PM Certain casting # blocks were often used for different applications, but the MO would be exclusive to the 302 Z engine.

67 MO for 302 without A.I.R. and MP for 302 with A.I.R. but don't never heard of "MI" as a 302 designation.
The intake casting for a 67 or 68 302 ended with 610 and the heads for early 67 were 462 castings where later 67 and 68 was 291.
RamAirDave Apr 14th, 06, 08:32 PM Russ, you could be right. I had never heard of MI either. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not super knowledgable when it comes to 67-8 numbers.
I found it here, but theres always a possibility of it being incorrect:
