I have new multi 5 leaf springs from eaton springs.(this is not a conversion, it had 5 leaf multis before), new shackles , and new spring perches and bushings.
After bolting up the front spring perches, I tried to swing the new leaf springs up to the rear shackles to test fit.
Problem:
The leafs barely reach the rear lower shackle bolt hole. by barely I mean I was not able to get the lower bolt in. I may be able to if I torque the heck of it.
Even then the spring eye will be right up against the rear frame rail bottom.
Is this normal and will this PUSH OUT with weight on the springs. Seems like the weight would push the spring tighter against the frame rail.
I know the old springs were about an inch longer but were sagged out and had a couple leafs broken.
I have compared new and old shackles and the hole in the shackles plates are the same.
I am kinda stuck on if I should proceed and this is normal and will straighten out OR something is not right.
Thanks
Ray
