Camaro Dave Apr 15th, 06, 11:32 PM Replace the dimmer switch and your headlights will work. wagonman Apr 16th, 06, 01:53 AM yes,,as mentioned b4 its prolly the dimmer switch. but dont rule out the possibilty of both low beams being burt out. i spent 45 min trying to locate a trouble why all 4 headlamps were not working on a monte carlo..... just to find out that all 4 lamps were out!!!! i felt stupid..... wagonman Apr 16th, 06, 01:54 AM yes,,as mentioned b4 its prolly the dimmer switch cuz of it not "latching". but dont rule out the possibilty of both low beams being burt out. i spent 45 min trying to locate a trouble why all 4 headlamps were not working on a monte carlo..... just to find out that all 4 lamps were out!!!! i felt stupid..... Strick Oct 23rd, 07, 11:54 PM After installing my hydroboost - I now have high beams, but no low beams. I have NOT even looked for the problem. Yes, I am trying to take the easy way out. Any quick thoughts on what to look for first. Both high and low worked fine before the install. Thanks! eville Oct 24th, 07, 10:05 AM Sounds like two unrelated issues to me. Have you changed the dimmer switch on the floor? It is common for those switches to fail. Cheap and easy ( 1 screw) to fix. Arch Stanton Oct 25th, 07, 12:03 PM Start with the easy stuff. Mine was simple. The carpet & switch grommet shifted just enough to bind or hang up the switch so it wouldn't click all the way from high beam back down to low beam. Adjusted/moved the carpet. Works fine now. Replacing the switch is easy though, if it needs to be replaced. Strick Oct 25th, 07, 08:47 PM Solved = ?? I moved the carpet aligned the wires, which would do zero except maybe fix a short and guess what - works fine. I drove this car from TN to NV last September and never had an issue with the headlights. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I will probably go ahead and order another switch with my next NPD order. click Oct 26th, 07, 07:39 AM also clean up those contacts inside the plastic plug, removing them is best to get them really clean. They get alot of moisture and sand and crud in them. Remove with tiny screwdriver to release the tang that holds them in the plastic slot, push out and clean. Gently rebend the tang 'out' just a tiny bit and push back into the plastic hole and its good for years and years  |
