I plan to get my subframe done next winter. I was thinking of going for powdercoating, BUT then I found out that customers from us at work (JET gas-stations etc.) never wanted us to powdercoat things we make for them (all stainless steel/aluminium stuff like signs etc), instead we have to go to a body-shop and get it painted there.....

They told us that powercoating is not resistant against fuel...so do you have any experiance in this?!
It wouldn't be nice if fuel leaks on the subframe and 'melt' the coating.

Thanks.

Powdercoating is more resistent to fuel/brake fluid than any base/clear coat. I had alot of my front end hardware powdercoated and it can take a huge beating from rocks/dirt/gravel that no paint would ever be able to handle.

I powder coated an intake over 5 years ago. It looks like the day I did it.

Powder coating is very durable as stated above, but repairs are a pain to fix.

It is cheaper to have them sand blast and powdercoat your subframe. At least where I live. By the time you have someone blast it and then you prime and paint it will be more than powdercoating.
