Since I painted the body yesterday, I thought I would share the progress with everyone. Please take a look at http://www.meyerbrosrods.com/photos/67_rs_camaro/default.aspx. I added two pictures of the body.

It is very exciting to reach the mile stone.

NIce, how did things work out painting in the garage? Did you hang plastic, etc..

bil1024, I did not hang plastic. I just cleaned up the area real well which included wetting the floor and sweeping the water out. I did this way before I painted to allow the floor to dry completely so I didn't have any problems with high humidity. I also went over the car with a duster with Endust on it. I have been told this will minimize dust issues.

I did get some dirt in the paint, but I color sanded the car today. I was able to get the dirt out for the most part. Dirt is hard to get away from completely. When I was in body school, I used a paint boot and got dirt in the paint. It is a dirty world. I just get things as clean as I can and wet sand out everything else. I have gotten great results with this method.

I will add some more pics as I get further into completion.

It took 4 cups filled to 28 oz. of mixed paint, hardener, and reducer to paint the body with the doors without trunk, front sheet metal, and hood.

It is too red, do it again.

It can never be too red. That would be like too much nookie. That will never will happen in this lifetime. :p

Which hardener and reducer did you use? How were temps and humidity the day you painted? Nice job Tom!

Thanks tired68, I used DCX61 hardener. I painted in the mid 70's temp and mid 70's humidity so I blended 885 and 860 reducer.

I have wet sanded and buffed. I am now working on the rest of the sheet metal. I will get pics posted asap.

What red did you use? It really looks good. I've looked at so many red cars trying to get the right color for my 69 they are starting to look alike. I used the Porshe Red on my 66 Chevelle but it looked orange at night or under lights. Didn't really want that on the Camaro. Keep up the good work...

Since I recently color sanded the body and partly reassembled the car, I thought I would share the progress with everyone. Please take a look at http://www.meyerbrosrods.com/photos/67_rs_camaro/default.aspx. I added three pictures of the body.

I am hoping waxing in a few more weeks will give me even more shine.

It is very exciting to reach yet another mile stone.

Since I recently assembled most of the trim and got it outside, I thought I would share the progress with everyone. Please take a look at http://www.meyerbrosrods.com/photos/67_rs_camaro/default.aspx. I added several pictures.

I still need to wax. It has been a month since I painted. Anyone think I should wait longer???

I notice you painted the tail lights... Thats a pretty good idea and I might steal it cause mine are all pitted and well I didn't test fit them after making a seamless body and painting the body.

Thanks for the compliment. Not only did I paint the tail light bezels, I also black out the grill... Check it out. I can't believe how nice it looks. The car is bolaro red in color.

Tom,
Looks great! When fitting the RS grill, does it go in as one piece all put together or do you have to piece meal it in and then use rivets or screws?

Thanks rjp73, The middle of the grill goes on first. You will need to take the top two bolts out of the horn support so you can get the grill in place. The two outside pieces overlap the middle piece and fit right over. Backing up, the headlights need to be bolted inplace first.

What did you do about the chrome on the tail lights? Scuff? Blast? I just reshaped my tail lights to fit the body today and I need to get them ready for paint.
