It's meaning would be for X66 "option". That would be for a BB car without the style trim.

Whats the date on the trim tag? NOR or VN car?

The date of the tag makes sense for your situation. Theres another thread right now on TC in "Tag Team" about the same thing, along with many numerous threads in the archives.

Yes, they were available that way. The style trim is an appearance package, trim around the wheel wells, 1/4 louvers, drip rail trim, etc. Dont see them very often, like you dont see the X55 non-trim SB cars often either.

You have a big block SS 396. Style trim consists of rocker moldings, wheel opening trim moldings, quarter panel "gill" moldings, and a bright drip rail ( I think I may be leaving a couple of items, but you get the idea.) A non- style trim car would not have all of the exterior brightwork. A style trim car would be an X22 car versus the X66. Sounds like a neat ride you have there.

An X66 car will still have the gills and rocker moldings, at least mine came that way. It doesn't have the wheel well moldings and drip rail chrome.

All cars have the rocker mouldings standard no matter what engines or options.

Like Tom said, rocker mouldings were on all cars.

The 1/4 louvers were part of the style trim group.

Sounds great! See:

http://camaros.org/diffs69.shtml

Follow the column down for SS396 for options, including 12 Bolt rear, HD radiator, fuel lines, BB motor mounts, Trans options, different heater box, Etc.

712 is the black comfort weave custom interior - very nice. 51 is code for Dusk Blue, which I feel goes well with the black interior.

Just got off the phone with Tony. Hey, man, dont mind helping out at all

Sounds like he has a real X6 car. PDB, junction block on the subframe. Has a torch cut hole in the trans tunnel, looks to be a 4spd car originally (has TH350 in it now). 5 leafs, but 10 bolt in it. Has a BB in it, but not sure yet if it is the original. It has some signs of being hot-rodded, so its not likely. But dont know yet for sure. I sent him some pics of the Muncie speedo hole and the heater hose location.

I think he did just fine on the car. :)

X6 says it all.......

Unless someone grabbed some yellow chalk and marked it X6. I think you are going to see this more and more.

Jonsey,

I agree but to make it look original would be very difficult. Not going to mention why here.

It's fun to talk original markings, codes, etc. here on TC but sadly we have to worry about the scammers that are lurking around looking for tidbits of info like this.......

And they were part of the SS package.......

I read here and other places about "X" codes behind the seat for Z/28s. Mine as jus a "D"! Any ideas? It has an X77 Trim tag.

RamAirDave

And they were part of the SS package.......

That is correct Kurt. I believe I misinformed Tony last night saying it was correct that his car doesnt have the gills.

My brain mustve been in "style trim" and "copo" mode last nite, and wasnt thinking as much in terms of SS :clonk:

Tony: Its not too uncommon for someone to bypass the heater core. If you can, take a good pic of the heater box and the surrounding firewall area.

Were you able to get a look at the pad on the pass side where the block and head meet to see if there is any codes/#s there?

What about this guy Sal Perz at American Musclecars in ntario Cal. He claims to have an SS 396-375 delete car with no gills or SS stripes? Has anybody looked at the car on his web site? It's Fathom Green.

Is there such a thing as a "heater delete" option ? Is that why Tony can't find any holes in his firewall and what Tom meant by 396-375 delete car ?

My car says "DG1" back there, and it's my understanding that that means it's a dark green interior, "X11" car. Which makes sense, considering I have some original parts that back it up.

The numbers you found on the engine look to decode as a 68 Chevelle 396/325. The VIN looks to be a 68 made in Baltimore, which would likely be chevelle also.
