Hello. I found a 67 Camaro for sale locally that needs alot of work, but is saveable. The price is $1,500 but it is pretty much just a body. It has the dash with a factoty tach. I was a stick car. and it needs at least patches for the quarters and a few bad spots in the floors. Also needs a windshield and front and rear chrome and lights. The vin is 124377N164302. The trim tag is a little hard to make out but here is what I think it is for the most part.

67 12137 Nor 63802
L 760-7 k-k
Z??? 35k

Sorry if that all looks foreign. That is kinda the lya out. Anyway. I would greatly appreciate any help.. Also If I can't swing the $1,500 I would gladly help someone out that is looking for a builder..Johnny

I'm always up for a project if you pass. What part of the country?

Louisiana. I think it was a medium blue car originally with black int. All the frame rails look great as do the firewall and inner fenders. But it is deffinately a builder. It is in the next town over so If I go back out that way, I will get a few pics. Johnny

Johnny,

The Z?? is probably a 2 and the 35K is probably 3SK which would be Group 3 options or, in your case, Interior Decor (Z23) and Style Trim Group (Z21). If you could recheck the group 2 options and see if any of the letters are:

B, E, G, H, L, M, R, S or U...

we can tell you more about the car.

The rest:

E
12
67 12137 Nor 63802
L 760-7 k-k
Z??? 35k

indicates a 1967 Camaro Coupe (probably 12437) built at the Norwood, Ohio plant the 5th week of December, 1966 (12E). The interior was Black Standard Buckets (760) and the exterior color was Emerald Turquise (KK).

See if you can get the rest of the letters so we can see what else this car had.

Ed

I will try to get another look tomarrow. The difficulty in reading the tag is that someone tried to scrape the paint off and actually made it harder to read. I don't think it is a car for me. I could afford to buy it, but I would break myself trying to get it back together. I called the guy back and he told me that he had SOME of the trim parts and the rear spoiler. The car does have an "ss 350" horn button, but those are easy to change. It also has a 10 bolt and the front suspention seams to be all there. I forgot to check for disk brakes. I just hate to see the car lost forever. I think I will probably regret not taking it on myself, but I know it would be doing the same thing in my yard that it's doing now. Is there any other things to look for while I am taking a second look??Thanks again..Johnny

Well, I went back and got plenty of pictures, But someone is gonna have to help me host them please. The more I look at the car, the more I am impressed. It really aint that bad. It was an a/c car. non disk brake. The jury is still out as to weather it has any significants but all in all a decent project. The floors and rockers are in pretty good shape. Frame rails are great. The trunk needs the center. I am still debating buying it, but just don't know. Johnny

just don't forget, when you look at at a vehicle to buy.think about what you would need need to spend on the car to build what you are expecting.....then double it. sorry, but unless you are willing to to drive a halfass musclecar then plan on spending twice what the original idea is.

I have more pics, but don't want to load the sight down.It looks a little rougher in the pictures. I mean it's no show car, but some of the areas that are usually shot are in great shape on this car. There is also alot of the parts that come with the car. There are two great fenders a good hood with an aftermarket cowl. A rear spoiler, bumpers ect. I have been thinking that I could use it to make a street car that has a few Trans-Am racing cues. I'm still undecided, but leaning twards buying. johnny

Johnny,

Well, I see group 1 is an "E" (Tinted Glass all around). It "could" be an "L" (Fold Down rear Seat), but I don't think so. Looks like there's an extra "leg" or 2 in there, so I think it's an "E". But you're right, the group 2 codes are almost non existant which is too bad. maybe if you look for signs of A/C, Center Console, Powerglide or manual transmission, rear seat speaker, rear antenna or the 8 track player, we can help. But as it is now, I don't think you'll ever know (unless you can verify one of the above...)

The car has a hole (factory) for the rear ant. It is an a/c car stick. Is there enough there to say weather it is a standard coupe, or possible ss? Looks to be non-ps and drums all around. I couldn't get a look at the extra parts that were taken apart. Hopefully there will be a radio and console in with the parts..Johnny

Well, I am wanting to buy the car but now there is another problem. The guy doesn't have the title, but he has a noterized bill of sale for the car. I promised myself I would never buy another car without having the title in hand. If I hold out, the car will probably be sold to someone else soon. Any guys had any luck regaurding getting a lost title? Thanks.. Johnny
