Hey guys, stoked to have found such a great community of people who help each other out. Maybe you can lend me a hand. 10 years ago I bought a Restored camaro that was just begining to show it's age. I was told it was originally a 6cyl with a vinyl top although it had a 350 and no top. The Vin is
123379N626361-From what I understand the 3 as the third digit means 6cyl.

The Trim plate looks like: ST69 12437 NOR303775 BDY
TR 711 67 B PNT
03 E X11
Im looking at a resto manual by Jason Scott that says 12437 would stand for a sport coupe 8 cyl. Not sure why the conflict. Pretty sure the car is of no rare value but always nice to know what it actually was back in the day. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to TC.

In your VIN, the third digit being a 3 is for 6 cyl (4 for V8). The fourth digit being a 3 is for coupe (6 for convertible).

As far as the 12437 on the trim tag, that is for the body being a sport coupe (12467 would be for a convertible body). The fisher tag code in that position doesnt have any info pertaining to the engine the car would have.

Hope that helps,

dave

the rest of your tag decodes as:
711 = standard black vinyl bucket seats
67 B = Burgandy Maroon exterior with black vinyl top
03E = assembled last week of March 1969
X11 = base model with style trim (Z21)
