: Information on my 67 camaro rs convertable
fraziersgoat66 Apr 18th, 06, 10:38 PM Wondering if my car was a Pacesetter or campaign replica. trim tag reads 04c 67-12667 nor111699 732-z 0-1 wd 2s 3l 5by- No ss option 327 powerglide on tree , power disc brakes ,power steering ,power top ,rear antenna ,bumper guards ,no a.c. or windows. Owned the car for 22 years and it set 10 years prior. Car has been in Terre Haure IN. area all of its life with its last 1973 Indiana inspection sticker in window . I rebuilt the car in the mid-late 1980s with no internet information on the subject but I always thought it was different. I had alot of fun memerys with this car and will never sell it for any crazy money they give now days. Any information will gladdy appreated Thank You! Also forgot car has 10 bolt rear axle .
KevinK7 Apr 19th, 06, 05:30 AM ...I'd say it's not a pace car, ...but sounds like it was ordered with similar options (ie. color, interior, etc.).
It's not an SS, ...has a 10-bolt, 327, and there doesn't appear to be a fleet code from what you provided, though I believe some cars did not have fleet codes.
Anyway, ...sounds like you still have a neat car there. I would be curious of it's history, ...you never know it could have been ordered to 'look' like a pace car by a local dealer, ...since you mentioned it's from Indiana...
(FYI, ...I had a '67 pace car myself that came from a dealership in Lincoln, Nebraska. It has since been sold to Chevrolet...)

67ss350camaro Apr 19th, 06, 06:00 AM It sounds like a pace car to me. Not all were SS cars. Track pictures have been found that show an RS pace car. Do you have any of the drive train codes and what is the vin#?
kjg67 Apr 19th, 06, 06:07 AM I agree it maybe one of the few RS pace cars. If it has the O-1 paint code and the "-" and the 5th group there is a good possibility it was at the track. the "-" represents a front stripe code other than the standard black.
Visit camaropacecars.com they have a lot of information on the 1967 Pace Cars. They also have a picture posted of one of the RS pace cars.
36j1967 Apr 19th, 06, 06:45 AM We would like you to visit us at www.camaropacecars.com as we have another owner with a similar car that would love to share information with you. So are you a Haution? I lived in the area many years and still have family there.
fraziersgoat66 Apr 19th, 06, 06:52 AM The original 327 was missing in action. It was replaced with a heavy duty 1965 engine. The vin #124677N211150. The transmission was also replaced. If any of this information helps, please let me know. Thank You!
67ss350camaro Apr 19th, 06, 07:03 AM What about the axle code? Here is a link to help find it: http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#RearAxleNumbers
bigblockpace Apr 19th, 06, 09:47 AM You have to drop in at camaropacecars.com!
FESTIVAL78 Apr 19th, 06, 11:05 AM Your car absolutely is a Pacecar and recognized as such by vintage pictures as well as a fellow owner. With your help we shall find the exact usage and circumstances involved with the 0-1 rs only cars.
fraziersgoat66 Apr 19th, 06, 03:01 PM I am very excited with all the information on my 67 camaro and the possibility it was a pace car. I found these # on the lower front of axle carrier- gm72 3969340NF and these on the top back side F250 CON2 . Idid not see # on axle tube on pass. side so far. But Im sure its looks to be original. I know with the present 350 turbo and modifyed 327 it run around 120mph before secondarys open. I dont do that stuff any more or my wife would kill me. Anyway I definitely want to find out more , Now I hope its for real and not a dream. Thanks you for all the input I am receiving on the topic.
Kurt S Apr 19th, 06, 07:18 PM That axle sketch is pretty accurate. Hit it with a wirebrush and you should be able to see the code.
clwilcox33 Apr 20th, 06, 06:57 AM It's always exciting when a rare car turns up out of no where that the rest of us didn't know about! Please keep us informed and get us some pictures of it if you can! You can click the link in my signature for how to post pics if you get some.
fraziersgoat66 Apr 20th, 06, 09:41 AM Found these numbers on axle tube CPA 0707W1 ,had to use bright light to see and remove tire . Hope these are the correct numbers . Thank for all the help. Need more information ,let me know.
67ss350camaro Apr 20th, 06, 09:45 AM Looks like the axle has been replaced also. They did not start putting the leading C on until 1970 and the date 07/07 is way after your car was built.
fraziersgoat66 Apr 20th, 06, 04:33 PM I took a good look at the axle tube brackets, has small area between for only a mono leaf to go through. I have a 68 firebird sprint with multi leaf springs and the brakets are much thicker and made different. The brackets on the camaro look factory, very smooth and consistent beads with a few splatter marks, also no other ground down welds. Are there other years that could have the same spacing and drive shaft angle to fit springs. Could the axle be a factory replacement? Really puzzled now !
Kurt S Apr 20th, 06, 06:18 PM CPA was a monoleaf axle, even in 1970. :)
67-69 Camaro and 68-74 (?) Nova all have the same axle dimensions.
fraziersgoat66 Apr 20th, 06, 09:07 PM That make since, must came out of 70-71 Nova . Never thought it was replaced. Thanks for helping .
