View Full Version : Copo Moderator Change
JimM Apr 19th, 06, 06:54 PM Now that the ruckus of the past week has settled down in a positive manner, We've decided to make a change here.
Effective now, I am the "Copo and Dealer" forum moderator.
Jeff has done a great job here, and he's a good friend. When the ruckus started last week, he chose to pull back, thinking that his close ties with one group hindered his ability to moderate both. Al stepped in, and things are now looking good.
Since Al can't moderate this full time in addition to administering the entire website and 3 more, he's asked me to step in.
I'll be adding more, will try to keep em short.
JimM Apr 19th, 06, 07:05 PM For those who aren't regulars here, justa bit about me.
I'm 48, married with 3 boys, and live in suburban Chicago. I own a small business.
I've been part of Team Camaro, and it's been a part of me, for 7 years. I posted for the 8000th time today. I've been a moderator (in electrical) since Devember of 05, and I'm the newest mod on the site. I like to think I'm liked and respected by most here, and I think of hundreds as my friends.
My favorite musclecar is topless, I'll own or drive nothing else. Lifetime so far, 14 drop tops, t-tops, or removables. My favorite is the 68 Camaro, second 67 GTO.
I do my own work. All of it. The only thing I've farmed out is engine machine work and wheel alignments.
I don't weld. Thankfully, my current ride hasn't needed any. I consider this to be a huge character flaw, and one I will rectify someday.
I don't know a lot about "supercars." I do plan to do a lot of learning.
I know very little about the supercar scene, and the people involved, but again, I plan to do a lot of learning.
Since I don't know, I expect I'll be extremely impartial. I will act on what is posted here, not based on any relationships or friendships. "We" do not have a past. Our future starts now.
copoloco Apr 19th, 06, 07:23 PM Detroithorsepower Jim.Looks like I'll be giving SUPERCAR Christmas packs again this year.Don't know you but it looks like your interested in history.

I've changed that sentence, and apologize for a my first choice of words.

HawaiianCamaro Apr 20th, 06, 12:06 AM Make sure Al gives you the same pay raise as I got when I first took it :)
Really though Jim, Al couldn't have asked a better person to take it over.
Besides now I got the last peice of sheetmetal for my 68 that is long overdo for being put back together and Ill be doing a lot of that over the next few months trying to get it together for the Hawaiian Island Camaro Round the Island Cruise. might not be in paint then but oh well will make for a fun day
JimM Apr 20th, 06, 07:47 AM pay raise... lmao.
If you get bored, I think there's still an opening in Transmissions.
By all means keep the flag. We need your input in the back room.
click Apr 20th, 06, 08:28 AM Maybe we need a Bar and Grille section to sit and miserate about the wages :)
Ya know that might be a cool additon now that I think of it. We can have our BBQ receipes, food and beverage ideas etc. OMG that might get to dainty for me, yikes :beers:
Larger Dave Apr 20th, 06, 04:34 PM As a former owner of a '68 Baldwin Motion Phase III Camaro can I say, congratulations Jim? Shucks, I'm going for it! Congratulations.
Larger Dave
HawaiianCamaro Apr 20th, 06, 04:38 PM OK DAVE open up a new post and tell us about your old 68 BM III Camaro. IS it still arounds anywhere and if so whats the status of it!!!
Rabbit Apr 20th, 06, 05:19 PM Congrats Jim, You seem to have done a good job here so far.
Jeff good luck with the restoration of the Camaro. As we all know it take alot of work and many hours to put new life into an old car like we do. Have fun and don't get dishearted during those times when the rebuild slows down just think of the fun ahead when it's done.
Scott
JimM Apr 20th, 06, 05:26 PM thanks a bunch Scott, I'm trying... The politics here are killer!
MrDanB Apr 20th, 06, 08:22 PM JimM, Good going! I know you'll do great in this section. Still waiting for July, so we can all meet up in Montana :waving:
Dano:beers:
Jeff H Apr 20th, 06, 09:30 PM Jim, we'll see if we can get some good educational posts going without making them combative in any way. I will have to put a disclaimer on mine since I know I will mess up some details and that's where I hope others will chime in to help to correct things.
Kermi Apr 20th, 06, 11:49 PM Congrats Jim! Although the posts from the last couple of weeks had gotten out of hand for this site, there were a ton of great pictures and history to enjoy and learn from. I really liked seeing Jim Parks fathom green yenko get an award. He lives 20 miles from me and that yenko is an absolute jewel! He gave me a ride in his 02 phase III ZL-1, and I still have to get back in his car and find my fillings, sure they are embedded somewhere in the back seat!
I am glad this forum did not get closed like the last time this happend.
There is a lot to learn and appreciate here. Good Luck and thanks for stepping up to the plate!
JimM Apr 21st, 06, 05:34 AM Thanks Kermi!
We ARE going to keep COPO open. The supercars are a vital part of Camaro History. They are important. "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday", after all. Without them, Camaro history would be different, and that would change Camaro Present and Camaro Future.
I really want to see more activity here. The recent posts full of COPO pics had over 5000 views, that's popular! That proves the interest.
Bring on some more pics! Especially closeups and details! I wanna see some Supercars!
Rabbit Apr 21st, 06, 02:37 PM Jim I think I might have a few and will post some supercar photos soon for you as you asked here and over on the detroithorsepower site. Ask and you shall recieve.
JimM Apr 21st, 06, 03:12 PM Scott, I have asked on both sites, twice there. Bring em on!
Rabbit Apr 21st, 06, 03:26 PM Jim
