How many teeth are on a 1969 powerglide Flexplate? 153 or 168? I am converting to a 4 speed and want to make sure I get the proper 4 speed flywheel which I believe is 10.5 inch.(153)
Any help?
Thanks.

Dan,,,
I believe The stock flexplate for a Powerglide trans will measure is 12-3/4" in diameter and has 153 teeth.

My stock 68 327/glide was a 168 tooth flexplate. Check your block. If it is drilled for staggered bolts on the starter, it's 168. If straight across, it's 153. If drilled for either, you can run either.

Thanks guys. I checked the car and it has 153 teeth, which means I will need a 10.5 " flywheel.
Anyone know a good source for one? new or used?
Thanks again.

A new one from the dealer would be a good choice.
A used one would probably require machining to remove burn marks and cracks, and then to have it rebalanced. Check condition of ring gear for missing and worn teeth. The worn/chewed teeth always happen right where the piston goes to compression.
