Hello everyone I am new to the board and need your advice. I have a 97 camaro ss convertible with the 6 speed trans and the ram air lt1 engine. I have owned the car about 6 mounths and it has always had a high idle around 1100 rpm no matter what temp. but still ran and performed well. Now when it starts to warm up it starts miss fireing under aceleration and the check engine light is on and after shut down you can smell gas. I took it to the local parts store and had the codes read which said bank 2 number 1 o2 sensor. The car has new wires plugs and opti. I want to make sure I am changing the right part for the problem this sensor is a real bummer to get to and remove. Thanks for your help

It might be because your engine is getting too much fuel and running rich. The 02 sensor doesn't have to be bad because the ECM kicked out the code. It is just reading the rich fuel mixture.
