I have a 69 4 spd car and didn't like having to put the car in reverse to get the ignition key out so I removed the lockout rod and removed the backup light switch so that they didn't burn all the time. Has anyone rigged up a backup light switch using the reverse lever off the trans to trigger the backup lights? Part # or source of switch? Does the green wire complete the circut off of the back up light switch? Thanks, Jim

I used a Hurst switch available from any Hi Pro parts store.

on a 68, the pink / bk stripe wire is the power feed, and green goes back to the lights, 69 should be the same. Just extend them back to the hurst switch.
Or, you can just rotate the cylinder at the base of the column to trn them on.

I originally used the hurst switch, and got sick of it working intermitantly. I then adapted the 68 switch setup and linkage. I had to drill a small hole in the reverse rod for the linkage but it works perfectly. MOst people haven't had any issues with the hurst switch. Good Luck.
