In June , I have my wifes blessing to have Thorley 376Y1-C's installed as well as a new flowmaster exhaust sytem. I will also be installing a date correct Holley 4053 carb and having the valves adjusted. Once complete, it will be dialed in on the dyno at a local hot rod shop.

Here is the question...

I just confirmed I have a 111467 original distrubutor on my 68Z. Thanks to a great suggestion of using an angled mirror, I was able to see it for my own eyes! The local shop also does distributor rebuilding. Should I plan to have this done at the same time? I've been doing a little reading and noted that it uses a 532 CAM. Should I seek a new one or is this part durable? Are there any parts I should seek for replacement prior to taking it to the shop?

Do a search for 302, DZ, Etc and you will find ( sorry if you already have) many great discussions on setting up the Dist for 302 use, and the necessity in doing so, including the vacuum advance can. SO IMO, I surely would do this at the same time- I bet you will be thrilled with the added performance. I will be interested in seeing how well it works.
