I have an original 68 Z28 that I am trying to keep as original as possible. I do not want to use the Muncie shifter and installed a Hurst Comp Plus shifter instead. I was wondering if anyone has this setup and was still able to reatin the functionality of the original slider and upper shifter boot seal. Lower shifter boot fit fine. My shifter handle doesn't line up correctly in the slider and I'm afraid it won't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

in theory at least, if you have the right install kit for the shifter, it will work, Mine didn't, but there seems to be doubt that I had the right install kit. I ended up relocating the console 2" to the rear, then everything fit.

I tried to use the slider and it just kept binding. I trimmed the rubber and tried many times but it always got hung up. I yanked the rubber and sliders and run without it. It doesn't look great but works great :)
