Curiosity?
true, i just meant like , does he have reason to believe something might not be right about it, the fake cowl tag subject is pretty touchy as it is, and with a post like that, with minimal description of the request, there can be tons of reasons as to why he wanted to know what we thought about it...i was just trying to get a little more info.

Touchy subject yes, if it is referring to a particular car for sale. So far it is an unknown car.

Is that 2HG, heater delete + console? Odd combination for an RS seems to me. I don't know 67 tags well enough to comment on originality.

Decode for body number: 037597

67-12437 = Standard Interior Coupe.
LOS = Built in Van Nuys California.
760 = Standard Black Bucket Seats.
Z = (A50) Strato Bucket Seats (without headrests).
L-2 = Lower Color is Tahoe Turquoise and the Vinyl Top Color is Black.
J318 = internal plant scheduling code.
Options:

2G = (D55) Console front compartment
3S = (Z23) Interior Decor group

Curious again,,, Why would anyone order a 67 with heater delete? Maybe the orginal owner was from Malvern. Pa.?

Chemosabe. No 67 authority here.

It wouldnt be that hard to add the heater in this car. Being an LA car, it could have originally been shipped to a warm climate and ordered that way or maybe for racing, who knows.

After watching you and SSDanny69 ride each other for several years now I have become an authority of sorts. You Texas guys are way too serious.:waving:

I read that first character after 2 as an "M", not "H". Hard to tell because of the dent/crease in the tag, but an M makes more sense with a BB/auto and a heater.

2M = (M40) THM400 Automatic Transmission

I can't see the VIN in the other post you have going. Should be close to 163266 (last LA Camaro VIN for June 67).

I agree, that's an M, not an H. 2MG is a LOT more likely.

thanks guys thats more logical since it does have an automatic and thats real close on the vin its L161xxx on the cowl.

L161xxx makes sense. Too bad about the DMV VIN. I guess we can assume with a DMV VIN that someone verified it's not stolen along the way. Some states didn't issue titles back then, and maybe it's just procedure in whatever state issued that DMV VIN that cars without a title get a DMV VIN, regardless of the circumstance.

Just document the partial VIN (personally, I'd take the cowl grille panel off since it's easy to do so, and take a rubbing and closeup photos of the partial VIN). If you ever have it apart with the engine side heater blower cover off, do the same for the partial VIN under the blower.

That would be enough to satisfy me it's real, combined with the drivetrain numbers (if they match). I wouldn't like having a DMV VIn on the wrong door jamb though....

yeh eric it kinda bugs be a little too i guess i was wanting to here a little something possitive ( like thats cool, don't worry about it) just to make me feel better. at least i know that it wasn't removed and replaced by a masked man in the alley!! LOL. i'm sure there's people out there that don't have the right tag and don't even know it or mabe they do. thanks eric have a good one. Blaine
