: Connecting booster to brake pedal

I'm in the middle of a power disk brake installation and have this problem hopefully someone has already run into.

When connecting the brake pedal to the booster (shaft), it's to short with out the extension and to long with the extension on. The pictures don't show the piece that connects the two.

Am I missing something?

Dave, the longer rod is correct. Just thread the fork on and put the rod to the lower hole on the brake pedal. I can see the distance is correct judging from the Brake light switch.

Thanks for the reply.

I thought that it would need the extension but even with the brake pedal against the brake light switch the extension is still hitting the brake pedal shaft. I guess I need to push the booster rod into the booster to attach the clevis (fork).

no, dont compress the booster or master, i think you need to cut the extension to get the right length

Really???

I haven't had the time to work on it the past couple of days. I have never installed a master cylinder or booster before and I don't want to break anything.

Anyone else have an opinion?

Yes, dont compress anything to get it to fit. Just set the brake pedal height to where you want it, line it up with the light switch and cut to lentgh if needed. I think some companies sell their parts a little long. Judging from your pics i dont think you need to trim much more than 1/2 inch or so. Just take your time with it and have fun!

Thank you both very much. I appreciate the advise.

The more I think about it, it makes since not to compress it.

Thanks again,

Dave, you can grind the end of the rod down if it's only a half an inch or less just enough so when you put the Clevis fork on the end of the rod it, will allow the fork to slide around the pedal lever without compressing the booster. It looks like you shouldn't have to take much off of the rod to get it to fit.

See if this image from David's site sheds a little more light:

Looks like you need the pedal striker. It bolts in the upper hole and adds about 3/4" between pedal arm and switch. With that, the clevis, and the short rod, you might have it.
There is also a long and short clevis.

Thanks for the advise. I cut about 1" off of the threaded side of the extension. And was able to connect it to the brake pedal.
