New guy here so please be gentle...............

Driving yesterday and my noisy, "chirpy" speedo stops working after I hit a pothole. About one minute later the service engine soon light comes on. The car seems to be running fine. Is it possible that the light has come on due to the speedo failing ?

Also, if the speedo has been "chirping" for quite a while and the needle bouncing, is my problem most likely behind the gauge or down at the tranny ?

This car is a '89 RS with a 2.8 v6. Thanx for any advice !

Yes, you probably got a code from the VSS (vehicle speed sensor). I would check the speedo cable first. It is common for them to break in the third gen Camaros.
