Hey Freddie got a question for ya. I have a 1973 Nova 8.5 10 bolt (finally found one close) and am looking to rebuild it with a posi. I had a guy call me today and told me he has a used GM unit from a late model suburban or Z71 pickup that should fit. He said it will fit the 8.5 ring and is called a governor lock posi. Now I dont know anything about this so I was wondering if it would work or not. He wants $150.00 for it and says it looks new. Whatcha think? Thanks.

The Eaton Governor Lock is fine for stock trucks, but I don't recommend them for a performance car. There are too many small parts in them that tend to break when abused. If it was a Traction Lock or Eaton Posi then it would be fine. The Gov Lock will fit in this rear end with special bearings, but it will probably have 30 spline axle gears, where your Nova rear end will have 28 spline axles.
